Before there was technology to seamlessly stitch photos together, I would sometimes photograph landscapes in a grid-like fashion. But these photos were never merged into a composite because it was impossible to do successfully. Today, advances in photo editing software allow you to input selected photographs and like magic they assemble themselves into a tableau. The magic is AI inspired and trained programming. This project presents automatically assembled composites as a surrogate for reality; but there are artefacts that distort and defects that annoy the viewer. Or perhaps nudge one to question what is real and what is a lie.
